The Penn State Judge/Bradley Credit Union School, a collaboration between Penn State and the Pennsylvania Credit Union Association, is a leadership development program designed to meet the educational needs of credit union CEOs, managers, and staff.
A Learning Experience that is Customized for Credit Union Leaders
The Penn State Judge/Bradley Credit Union School offers an excellent opportunity to develop the management skills critical to success. Students may choose from either Basic Management or Advanced Management tracks based on prior experience.
The two-year rolling format of the Judge/Bradley school allows students to focus on developing core leadership skills without having to take significant time away from work. At the conclusion of their first year, students in both tracks are required to complete a project utilizing their skills and knowledge. The projects are evaluated by the Judge/Bradley Advisory Committee, and outstanding projects are selected for presentation for the following year’s general session.
In addition to the core curriculum, a full day is dedicated to current credit union topics. Credit union leaders from around the state are invited to share their personal insight into current credit union issues. In addition, experienced credit union professionals will lead breakout sessions on a variety of selected topics.
Shaping the future of tomorrow's leaders
The Basic Management track is recommended for staff interested in developing a core competency in supervision; for students without any formal education in organizational behavior, or those who do not have direct supervisory responsibility.
- Building Postive Work Relationships

- Roles & Responsibilities in Supervising Others
- Effective Communication Skills
- Teambuilding at Shavers Creek Environmental Center
"This ‘event’ is not your typical out of office conference. Although you have networking and powerful speakers, there is additional wisdom being introduced into the program by the countless discussions of peers that are facilitated in and out of sessions, and of course, Shaver’s Creek. Looking back on my first year, I’m still evaluating whether the bigger draw is the diversity of attendees’ age, position, or years in the industry, or the fact that you’re given homework (and excited about it!). Regardless of what motivates you to get there (maybe it’s even the creamery), I guarantee you will be yearning to return for years to come. The investment for attending Judge/Bradley is minuscule compared to the return you will see upon finishing the program."
Theresa Hilinski, Training Director, Viriva Community Credit Union
The Advanced Management track is recommended for staff with senior management or other supervisory experience, previous formal education in management techniques, or those individuals who have previously completed the Basic Management track.
- Developing Coaching Skills
- Interviewing & Selection
- Employee Development
- Teambuilding at Shavers Creek Environmental Center
