Bruce Foulke of Philadelphia Receives Top CU Professional Award

HARRISBURG -  The Pennsylvania Credit Union Association (PCUA) presented its William W. Pratt Lifetime Achievement Award for the Credit Union Professional of the Year Award to Bruce Foulke, President and CEO of American Heritage Federal Credit Union, Philadelphia.  The award was presented during the Association's Annual Convention & Exposition on May 19 at the HERSHEY Lodge & Convention Center in Hershey.

The annual award is presented in memory of William W. Pratt who for more than three decades worked on behalf of credit unions. When Pratt began working at the Association in 1942, there were 550 credit unions in Pennsylvania – when he retired in 1965, there were nearly 1,300 credit unions in the Commonwealth.

In 1979, the Budd Workers Federal Credit Union, with $5 million dollars in assets, hired Foulke as Manager.  His enthusiasm brought new vitality and the credit union blossomed under his leadership, becoming a full-service $560 million dollar credit union.

Bruce is committed to strengthening, advancing, and protecting the credit union movement.  He was instrumental in assisting four credit unions to obtain their charters and has provided assistance for numerous credit unions across the state.  Bruce has also traveled to Kenya and hosted delegates from the country to teach them about credit unions.

He is a former director and chairman of the PCUA Board of Directors, as well as the Pennsylvania Credit Union Foundation.  He currently serves as Vice Chairman of the PCUA Governmental Affairs Committee, as well as an Executive Committee Member of the CUNA GAC; CUNA CULAC Trustee; and an Advisory Group Member of the World Council of Credit Unions.

Within his community, Bruce is the chairman/founder of the Kids-N-Hope Foundation, which finances music therapy for the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. The foundation was founded in 1996 and has raised more than $400,000.

Credit unions are non-profit financial cooperatives that provide affordable financial services to help their owner/members.  The Pennsylvania Credit Union Association, based in Harrisburg, provides legislative, professional development, and operational support and services for nearly 600 credit unions in Pennsylvania. These credit unions have assets in excess of $24 billion and serve nearly three and a half million members. For additional information about credit unions or to find a credit union near you, visit
