Credit Union Executive Honored with PCUA Keystone Award
HARRISBURG – The Board of Directors of the Pennsylvania Credit Union Association (PCUA) awarded the prestigious Keystone Award to its President and CEO Jim McCormack. A native of Scranton, McCormack has been active in the credit union movement for more than 30 years and has served as President and CEO of PCUA since 1992. The Keystone Award was presented at the PCUA 76th Annual Convention & Exposition held May 16-18.
In presenting the award, PCUA Chairman Ray Brunner cited McCormack’s leadership in guiding the Pennsylvania Credit Union Association into one of the premier credit union associations in the country. Brunner also stated, “Under your leadership, the Association has fostered a business environment for Pennsylvania credit unions that have allowed them to flourish and grow.”
McCormack began his credit union career in 1971. Before joining PCUA in 1981, he held various positions with CUNA Mutual Group both in Pittsburgh and at its corporate headquarters in Madison, Wisconsin.
Professionally, McCormack is currently or has previously served on the Board of Directors of a number of national associations and service and technology companies. He also is Past Chairman of the Pennsylvania Society of Association Executives Board.
McCormack holds a bachelor’s science degree from King’s College in Wilkes-Barre, and earned a master’s degree in business administration from Mount Saint Mary’s College in Maryland. He is a Certified Credit Union Executive, a Certified Association Executive, and has been recognized by the American Society of Association Executives by being awarded their highest designation, Certified Association Executive.
In February 2009, McCormack was honored with the prestigious Eugene H. Farley League Leadership Award from the American Association of Credit Union Leagues (AACUL) for outstanding efforts as a credit union association executive.
The Keystone Award was first presented in 2000 to honor an individual or organization that epitomizes the credit union philosophy. Past recipients include Joni Brown of SERVCO Federal Credit Union; PSECU for creating CU$; Ed Fox of Mid-Atlantic Corporate Federal Credit Union; the Pennsylvania Credit Union Foundation; Rich Lenio of Frick Tri-County Federal Credit Union; Mike Judge, retired PCUA President/CEO; State Senator Stewart Greenleaf; Bruce Foulke of American Heritage Federal Credit Union, John Kebles of Choice One Community Federal Credit Union, and Bob Marquette of Members 1st Federal Credit Union for their political advocacy; U.S. Senator Bob Casey, Jr.; and Pennsylvania’s Youth Ambassador Contest.
