Williamsport Area Resident Receives State’s Top Credit Union Volunteer Award
HARRISBURG – Paul Nyman of Williamsport was honored with the Pennsylvania Credit Union Association’s (PCUA) top award for volunteers. Nyman was presented the Joseph A. Moore Award for the 2010 Outstanding Volunteer of the Year during the PCUA 76th Annual Convention & Exposition held May 16-18.
For more than 25 years, Nyman has volunteered his time to serve credit unions. Since 2000, he has volunteered on the Board of Directors for Horizon Federal Credit Union of Williamsport. He had previously served on the Credit Committee and the Board of Directors for LYCL Postal & Federal Employees FCU for 16 years prior to its merger into Horizon FCU in 2000.
Within the credit union movement, he is actively involved in the Susquehanna Valley Chapter of Credit Unions, and serves as a member of the Association’s Governmental Affairs Committee.
In the Williamsport community, Nyman has also been an active volunteer. For 17 years, Nyman has coordinated the Letter Carrier’s Food Drive that has collected more than 50,000 pounds of food and in 2008, was recognized by the local Salvation Army as Volunteer of the Year.
The Volunteer of the Year award is presented in memory of Joseph A. Moore, who served as an Association Board of Director from 1936-1972. He sat as Board Chairman for three terms and was the state’s first national delegate to the Credit Union National Association (CUNA) Board of Directors.
